Under a bridge, park bench, in cars, on airport seats, are not the places we should find women and children sleeping. Yet individuals impacted by domestic violence and fleeing their violent situation, are left homeless, hungry, and many times with only the clothes on their backs. Here we feature voices from a variety of experts on domestic violence and victimization. Unfortunately, there is a lingering myth that women who are abused, either deserve it, or should have just left their situation. As a result, advocates, organizations, and researchers must spend time defending them because this is far from the truth. The real questions advocates want everyone asking is, "Why do abusers abuse?" Never blame victims, no one deserves to be hit or beaten.
Additionally, our program improves relations between victims and family members who otherwise do not understand why the victim stayed despite their many attempts to encourage them to leave. Even where relations have not been completely reconciled, there is often an increased understanding of the nature of family violence that helps the families move forward with their lives. With appropriate supports, many victims find a renewed hope in moving on.
We cannot do it alone, we need your donation, time, emails, suggestions on how we can improve our services, and share our site, add us to your facebook, twitter, and other social media site. We truly believe it takes a village, and so each day we try to do our part, Please help.
In the interim, thank you for supporting Precious Petals Foundation, Inc. and its mission and vision to assist individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and their trickling effects of homelessness and hunger.
